Repair of Bridge Drive Gear Case for the Steel Industry
|
|
Our ability to handle large components, along with our expert gear box knowledge, brought this client from the steel industry to our facility. This repair project required us to repair and rebuild the bridge drive gear case on a crane that moves steel slabs. To make the repairs we applied MIG welding to repair cracks, and buildup bores. We then used our CNC machining capabilities to re-machine the bores to print specifications, machine the ring seal for output shaft, and ream the holes. We then assembled the gear case with all new hardware, re-plumbed with all new plumbing and lube lines, installed bearing seals, pressed gears on shaft, installed idler wheel assembly, and aligned and installed seal ring. This 8.5 high x 9 long x 4 wide gear case was sandblasted before we applied a coating of signal yellow paint. After final inspections and test runs, we delivered this case to the clients facility in Middletown, Ohio, fulfilling the requirements of this project.
